Production treatment for 'It Girl'

Group details:

Jade Anderson

Emma Cousins

Michael Rowan

The music video:

It girl by Jason Derulo

Duration:

3 minutes 34 seconds

Audience:

We aimed to target our audience towards older teenagers and young adults. The audience is targeted at both males and females with males inspiring to the RnB singer, Jason Derulo and females finding him attractive. Jason Derulo is a RnB artist, similar to other popular artists at the moment such as Jay Z, Usher and Tinie Tempah, attracting many RnB fans.

Resume:

The song ‘it girl’ is about a man who really admires a girl, he flatters her and sings to her to catch her attention. The narrative shows the couple in love and admiring each other, we should this through a number of ways with them cuddling, hugging, holding hands and kissing. Instrumental moments are also included in the video where the male sings to the camera, we also will even feature a moment where the female sings to the camera.

Suggested elements:

For our music video, we decided that it would be most suitable to have a illustrative music video featuring a combination of performance and narrative, we found that this is most common in RnB music videos. We decided that our actors will just wear basic clothes which are in fashion at the moment to keep in trend and make the actors seem real and relatable to the audience. For filiming locations, we have decided to film in the studio in college and in the local park, we are also considering filming in a cafe, these locations seem most authentic to show the couple and the studio will show the performance of the main male part. We will include special effects in our music video, we are thinking about changing the hue of the video to create a summery, bright feel to reflect the couple being in love.

Recording days:

With the changing ideas, we decided that we would have to make the most of the time we had and filmed whenever possibly. We decided to spend our lunch times filming over a week and have decided that we will include the media studio at our college in the filming which would take the whole morning. After finishing the production work, we estimate that we will have 5 days allotted for post-production, this will include completing the editing, insertion of transitions, sound and overall polishing of the piece. We will also make time to complete the CD cover and poster. Addition to the time we spend working in normal lesson time, we have also each individually allocated time to spend working on the entire piece in our free time.
