The music video:
The Writer by Ellie Goulding
Duration:
3 minutes 57 seconds
Audience:
Typically, Ellie Goulding's music appeals to a younger audience. Listeners of her music normally range from around to around early twenties A stereotypical fan of Ellie Goulding's is a female around the age of 17, she has a quirky style therefore attracts similar people to herself, however Goulding has also collaborated with Gabrielle Cilmi, Diana Vickers, Tinie Tempah and Rihanna, which has gained her more recognition and a wider audience. Since these collaborations her music has moved from only electropop to more mainstream popular music covering some of Rihanna's and Elton John's songs, again getting herself more recognized and appealing to a wider audience.
Resume:
The song is about a girl who feels like she is the only one putting effort into a relationship. The narrative will show her feeling sad, wandering around places alone while she reflects on the lover that she thinks about, we also include instrumental moments where she plays on the piano and also sings to the camera, this fits in perfectly to the alternative pop genre.
Suggested elements:
For our music video, we have decided to create a illustrative music video including both narrative and performance. We have decided not to use to the college studio for our music video, we believe filming outside of college will create a authentic feel decididng to travel to a very nice park with a lake and also deciding to film in cafes in the middle of Manchester which have a quirky feel reflecting on the unusual personality of the artist. The girl will be dressed in wooly jumpers and flowery skirts to create a care-free feel and highlight that it is autumn time. For special effects, we will jump cut to performance then narrative and also change the brightness of the video to create a more happier feel.
Recording Days:
Our group has decided that we will spend roughly 3 to 5 days filming. After finishing the production work, we estimate that we will have 5 days allotted for post-production, this will include completing the editing, insertion of transitions, sound and overall polishing of the piece. We will also make time to complete the CD cover and poster. Addition to the time we spend working in normal lesson time, we have also each individually allocated time to spend working on the entire piece in our free time.
