I've chosen to look at Beyonce's album '4' artwork because her music fits into a pop genre, similar to Ellie Goulding's.
The cover uses simple colour tones that go well with each other.
The artists name (Beyonce) is in capital letters which suggest she is the most important thing about the album. This is also reinforces when a large picture of the artist covers part of the name and most of the album cover. Which we could use a similar idea in our own artwork.
Beyonce's pose is very suggesting; she's looking away from the camera holding her arms in the air, suggesting she wants the audience to look at her body. She also wears revealing clothing, only a fur item over parts of her chest, this also suggests that her image is as important as her music.
The back of Beyonce's album has a similar title although it's not covered suggesting it's been striped back, for people to take it serious. This could also suggest she does want her songs, which are listed, to be taken serious.
However, she is still a main figure in the image, but she's turned away again suggesting it's mainly her music which is important.
